Singer songwriter born and raised in Manchester, Chris has been singing all his life heavily influenced by soul jazz and gospel.
Despite no musical background in his family Chris knew his
place was on the stage weather in theatre or popular music & always had a passion for music.
Chris started to get work around the age of 17 after the
success of channel 4s musicool which he was fortunate enough to be apart
of, and since then he has performed at events around the UK showcasing
his soulful voice. Aswell as musicool Chris has also been lucky enough
to work within music touring with artists and opening for acts such as
Neyo and T-Pain not to mention touring with Josh Groban as a backing
vocalist for his sold out uk tour.
After a successful debut
headline show earlier in the year King Kash & Angelo team up once
again to put on another headline show. Supported by a full live band
this promises to be a night not to be missed. Both artists will play new
music from their upcoming releases and will be supported by Singer /
Songwriter Bekki Hlava, with Dj Marxs on the decks and Grace Laiker
returning as host!

The Hip Hop Orchestra was founded by Georgio Savvides a Producer/Pianist/Teacher from North London.
Georgio has always had a great love for Classical And Hip Hop Music, but
found that Classical Music, most of the time, has only been enjoyed by
the “Older” generation of people, and Vice Versa. Georgio set out to change all
that by creating his own “Mini
Orchestra” with a twist.
The founder says: "I want to blend Classical Music,
along with Hip Hop and Rnb, to perform a unique mix of current and old
songs, as well as our own original material".
This project is all

One in A Million’ is the song that sparked Charm to realise her
talent. Born Charmain Andrews, Charm was once low in confidence, that was until she found
her sense of self through singing. Now on her way to becoming queen of
the live music scene, Charm’s voice really is ‘one in a million’.
Using her formative years to experiment, Charm was drawn to others
using music as an expression. Her friendship group quickly became that
of rappers, singers, producers and musicians. The talented artist was reluctant to
settle for being simply a vocalist and developed her skill of
songwriting. ‘The pen would control my hand. A beat would play and my
pen would not leave the page, it was as if the song was already
written!’
Karl Gordon aka K-Gee is no stranger to the music industry being an international DJ and successful record producer. He and long time friend Tom Berhane (Lead Vocalist) had been hanging out at the studio cutting some beats , just exploring their inhibitions . And D.O.G. was created.
What began as a soul searching exercise, blended a fusion of funky hip-hop, rock and dance. “Within a year we wrote the album Retox “it came naturally “Karl adds, “We hadn’t planned to create a group it just kinda happened “. Tom and I were spending time in the studio writing and experimenting with different sounds “. The two guys caught on to a good thing, and immediately recruited a guitar player, bass, and drummer.
D.O.G has been creating a buzz in West London and are about to embark upon their first run of promotional live dates in the zone and decided to create their own “Norf Weezy” tour which kicked off @ Fat Talent LIVE / Aug. 14th at The Cobden Club. The Daily Mirror and the Guardian both made an appearance on the night. Journalists are said to be impressed with the line up . The Cobden Clubs owner, adds "It was one of the best nights we have had at the club for ages & the live acts were great “. The Journey through “Norf Weezy” continues.
Their Fusion of funky hip hop /rock/dance is reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz and D.O.G is set to tear the roof off at every gig. Catch them live at Proud Camden September 6th as Fat talent live present the D.O.G showcase .

Saba Azam is a talented self taught jewellery designer based in London whose designs are a fusion of modern flavours with a cultural twist. All of her designs are individual or one-off and handcrafted by Saba Azam herself. Since showcasing her first designs at a trade show in 2007 and receiving such a positive response Saba Azam Jewellery has been going from strength to strength. The passion and the love of being creative sparkles through clearly, Saba Azam jewellery is definitely for the person who wants that little something extra special...
Welcome Saba, You can see a lot of care and thought have gone into your designs, have you always had a passion for jewellery?
Yes. Although I graduated in a completely different discipline, I had always had a passion for jewellery from a very young age. I love wearing big, bold pieces of jewellery. One day 4 years ago I decided to make a pair of earrings using some plastic beads and string. I wore it when I used to go out and people loved it. That encouraged me to make pieces for family and friends as gifts, and I moved from using plastic beads to using crystals and wire. I took some formal training in beading and silversmithing. I have now started to incorporate gemstones such as rubies and emeralds.
Once you started making your designs how did you get yourself recognised?
I began with craft fairs in several boroughs in 2008. These were tiring but very enjoyable! I would have a contact list at each event for people to put their contact details. That was a great way to know how many people were interested in my work.
I took part in a fashion show in the summer of 2008. I did a one week pop-up shop through Craft Central in Islington earlier this year. Other than that, I have advertised on Facebook and have my own website www.sabaazam.com
Although people are more aware of my jewellery, I think there are really no bounds on brand awareness and I still have a long way to go!
Some of your designs have an Asian style to it, has this culture played a part in your inspiration as a designer?
Definitely. I think the main cultural influences on my jewellery are Arabic and Asian. I grew up in the Middle East and absolutely love their extravagant styles and colours of jewellery. I am from an Asian background which adds to the mix of styles.
How would you describe the style of Saba Azam?
My signature style according to me is unique, bold, stylish and elegant. My jewellery has an east-west fusion, where the colours are bright, yet the style is classy and contemporary such that any woman can wear it.
Being a jewellery designer you don’t get as much publicity as a clothing designer, has this affected your progress?
Of course clothes have more publicity, and there is more demand for clothes. This in turn means there are more clothing fashion designers out there. Sure, there are a lot of jewellery designers, but I feel that my jewellery is very different from what is present in the market at the moment. My work involves beading mostly, but the way I use the materials, and the designs I end up with are very different from the usual run-of-the-mill jewellery. There is increasing demand for jewellery which involves less use of gold, especially in our current economic climate, and my jewellery fits in perfectly.
Compared to clothes designers my product is easier to sell, as it fits everyone, there is no need for any measurements, which is great. Unfortunately, when entering fashion shows, I have to find a clothes designer who would be willing to use my jewellery on their models, as they seem to get priority on showcasing their work.
And finally but by all means not last my random question to you is
‘What’s the meaning of paradise?’
I am a very spiritual person, and I believe Paradise to be where virtuous people go to when they die. The meaning of ‘virtuous’, or good, may differ according to each person, and if I were to explain my view it would lead us onto a completely different topic!
But generally, all the good actions that you do in your life, and that which affects people around you in a positive way is just a small part of the paradise to come…hopefully!

Welcome to the Fat Blog, Its great to have a female musician on board…. can you tell us a bit about yourself ? Thank you for inviting me. My name's Yelitza, a singer / songwriter born and raised in Birmingham. I'm a huge fan of music, from RnB & Hip-hop to Reggae and Classical. I've been writing poems since I was 11 and began songwriting when I was 19. Since then I have performed in various places across Brum and up and down the country.
What inspires you as a songwriter? Pretty much anything in life inspires me. I love to write about what's going on around me! From everyday things to the more complex things like relationships! I try to stick to subjects I have experienced, it's easier to draw from personal life helps you to get the content right. On occasion, I have written about people around me aswell. Strangely, nature is a big influence too! I love to talk about the stars and the countryside. Stuff we can take for granted or don't really pay much attention to. Think that's the day-dreamer in me! I'm also inspired by people with drive and ambition.
What would you say are the 3 most important pieces advice that have been given to you? 1. Don't forget those who helped you to the top, 'cause you may just need them if you fall back
down to the bottom! 2. Patience, Persistence, Patience! 3. Always be polite and humble; you never know who you are talking to.
So your B’ham based entertainment event L.I.M.E (ladies in music & entertainment) is going from strength to strength can you tell us about that? Yeah, the show is doing really well. It's a surprise because whenever you start something that relies on other people coming out to support, it's difficult to predict what will happen. It could have so easily been a flop! Thankfully I know a lot of great people. We're like one big family and we work together to make the show a success. Thank you so much guys (Ecks Famo). It's important to share your ideas, draw on other people's knowledge and work as a team. You can be more successful if you don't just keep things to yourself. That along with the fact that there are so many great talents in the city and a huge amount of people who like to see music Live has helped to build the show.
L.I.M.E. was set up to give myself and other female artists a place to perform. The reason I focused on the ladies was not because I'm against the guys, it's simply that most successful nights have a gimmick and what better way to entice the crowd then to know there will be a room full of ladies singing and rapping, dancing and chillin'. It's on the last week of every month (check myspace for details) and each month we have regular artists, a main featured artist and slots for new talent to show what they can do. Food is served first, then performances, then we hang out, jam and network. It's a brilliant atmosphere and everyone who has come through has said they had a great time!
From your personal experiences as a musician what opportunities does B’’ham offer ? Apparently, Birmingham used to have a really big music scene. A lot of reggae bands, soul singers and popstars have come from here. Thing is, this has died down over the years and the opportunities have disappeared with it!
Of course, I can only speak from personal experience but I have to say, there does not seem to
be many opportunities in Brum. Don't get me wrong, there are some great venues here - The Jam House, The Yardbird, The O2 place... to name a few. Thing is, as a new artist, the doors are hard to open! There are so few places where you can go to simply develop your stage performance, build your confidence and spread the word about your music... at least I couldn't find many! That's why I created my own show!
I can sum up my feelings by simply saying... for the new artists, there are very limited opportunities but the city definitely has the potential for big things - watch this space!
What sort of things can our readers look forward to from your weekly feature? Honesty! I think it's only fair you share what works and warn about what doesn't. I'd like to create a blog that gives readers a chance to see what an aspiring artist has to do in order to get heard. Tips, ideas, video blogs that sort of thing.
…and finally we always like to end on a random note so, if you could be sat around the dinner table with any 3 people past or present who would you choose & why? Took me a while to decide on this, because there are so many people I would love to meet. I narrowed down to:
Luther Vandross - A musical legend of course! I love his music! Would love to have heard him sing live too.
Kat Williams - One of the funniest comedians out there. I love to laugh, so he'd have to be there.
Oprah Winfrey - An inspiring businesswoman. I feel I have a lot I could learn from Oprah plus I would love to go and work in her school in Africa!

Well live music showcases and open mics are ten a penny these days, and can undoubtedly be hit and miss. Don't get me wrong I am a music lover to the core, but at some of these things the acts are mediocre and often very samey(is that even a word?!) but none of the afore mentioned were applicable to last weeks Fat Talent LIVE.
I was invited to attend the event and give an honest unbiased review.Well what can say!!...I was genuinely blown away by the quality of talent that graced that stage, in a word WOW! from the dulcit tones of Rodrigo Braga, to the pure entertainment that came in the form of the booty shaking "Chocolate blonde" AND lets not forget the the uber talented Byron Gold. The list could go on, ten fantastic acts, great host DJ CHEF plus a wicked fashion show, this event is raw talent at its finest.
I can't wait for next months offering, so Sun March 8th put it in your diary.

If the mind concedes that it can perceive talent either externally or internally, then the mind must also concede that it can perceive what it is to be un-talented. Therefore the mind must concede it is merely a scale of judgement.
If talent is a scale of judgement then it is a matter of perspective, as only the mind that perceives will be able to exact the correct amount of judgement adequate for the talent seen from its perspective.
This however leads to disagreement as perspective is dynamic. One might argue that they have just seen a talented action, but another witness might argue that the action was not talented at all. This is because they both have different perspectives. They both judge talent differently.
So the mind must concede that talent is indeed a matter of opinion. In fact the mind can perceive all systems of judgment to be a matter of opinion. Further more to disagree with this statement will actually prove the point, as this theory is coming from my perspective.
So if all systems of judgement be they of talent or not are perspective related and therefore argumentative, then what is the point of talent if it creates incongruous behaviour. So the question becomes not what is talent?, but why is there talent?
So talent exists merely as a lesson in perspective? In essence to teach that perspective is fragmentary and incongruous. When the mind can view without perspective it can then view everything as a whole. That means it is in harmony with everything and not trapped within itself. It is free to create and explore all.
This however leads to a paradoxical question because in order for the mind to stop judging it must judge itself. And this is a question I will answer in my next post.

Seriously we are all about helping bring exposure to new talent as we have seen many a talented people give up on their dreams as the strain of adult life catches up to them.
