MESH Culture Magazine....

NEW MAGAZINE USHERS IN A NEW CULTURE

Amidst a crisis in publishing where many youth and urban culture magazines are closing down, Fortis Marketing Ltd and URBEATZ have started a new publication that is aimed at that very market and fills the huge gap left by said publications. On June 23rd MESH Culture Magazine was released, introducing a new strand of youth culture.

So What exacltly is MESH? What does it mean? and what can we expect?...All is revealed as the MESH Culture team give us the full low down....

So What Is Mesh Culture?

MESH Culture is a youth cultural shift, whereby we are shedding these given labels and boundaries.Instead we are picking and choosing what we like, what we want and whom we are; meshing these choices and influences together and discarding the parts and labels that we refuse to carry anymore!

MESH Culture is where Urban Culture, Innovation and Liberation meet.

Yaw Owusu, who coined the term MESH explains further. “This is not some abstract culture, it is something that is happening organically all around us and the great thing about MESH is it is more inclusive than any culture that has come before; it is not based on race or region, wealth or socialstanding, it is based on energy, enthusiasm, innovation and openness".

And What Is MESH Culture Magazine About?

MESH Culture Magazine is all about shining light on the people, products and projects that are leading MESH Culture or are a very clear representative of what MESH is all about. Editor, Yaw Owusu, explains: “The magazine is all about the people, products and projects that are pushing boundaries and bringing people and cultures through; people who are liberating minds and souls and who are innovating old and redundant systems, all within the field of Urban Culture”.

'MESH' Culture Magazine will be published in print every 6 months and will cover music, sport and entertainment, culture and arts, style and social and community. The MESH Culture blog is updated daily and features the top happenings in MESH Culture. Check it out at www.meshculture.com/blog

Despite the fact that the magazine is a new publication it has gained a strong cult like following and secured distribution through SIZE?. Further the fresh-faced editorial and design team managed to pull in an all-star cast to feature in its premiere issue. The first edition included features on Asher Roth, Sway, VV Brown, Adam Tensta, Theophilus London, Insa, Matt Mason, Nigel Sylvester and so many more. Further support came from major brands such as SIZE?, Urban Outfitters and EXIT.

Boutique Review

Today sees the launch of our 'Boutique Review'. Each week our roving
reviewers will be searching high and low to bring you coverage of the
very best independant retailers, flying the flag for innovation and new
& emerging design talent.

We kick off with one of my favourite shopping haunts & one of North
Londons best kept secrets!

GUATEGOAT is one of North London’s best kept secrets,
a real treasure trove of all things delightful....bags, accessories,
jewellery, clothing, more bags, the list goes on.....

Check out their designs on the video footage from last years
outdoor fashion show

The Owner/manager Hal Davis has got the market cornered
when it comes to quality, individual womenswear designs at
affordable prices. Plus his customer service skills are not too
bad either! He makes each customer feel special and nothing
is too much trouble.

Such is the quality & choice on offer, you could literally spend
all day drooling over the uniquely designed bags, clothing and
accessories.

This is what Hal had to say:

Welcome to GUATEGOAT LTD, a boutique for individuals.

One of the main things we pride ourselves on is staying away
from commercial mass produced items that all too often
involve child labour and exploitation of people less fortunate
than ourselves.

At GUATEGOAT we retail and wholesale a wide range of bags,
clothing and accessories. Most of our products are unique with
many of the designs created by members of our company.
We also offer a bespoke service onboth bags and clothing, and
specialize in larger size clothing (18-26).

It is not a taboo to mention that over the past decade or so,
Fonthill Road has seen a decline in standards of service, quality
and presentation - hence the numbers of discerning customers
have dropped off.

GUATEGOAT have been established in North London for about
2 years but have actually been trading for about 18 months. During
this time, we have received consistent feedback suggesting that our
presence has re-inspired customers of all ages, some of whom are
regular clientele from places like Upper St, Crouch End and Camden...
The word is spreading far and wide, and we now have many high
profile customers from as far afield as the USA, South America,
Europe and beyond.

Above all, we aim to provide the best service and highest quality
products possible at very affordable prices.

The Frock exchange

Fat Talent are proud to be Sponsoring the 'Frock Exchange'taking place on Sunday 12th April @ The Vibe bar in Brick Lane (East London). We caught up with the event organiser, fashion Stylist Elaine Nunoo.....

Name:
Elaine Nunoo

Age: 25

Occupation: Fashion Stylist

Weblinks: http://www.dynamiquelifestyle.com/frockexchange

Breast Cancer Research UK is one of many great charities, how did this collaboration come about?

Charities in general are really suffering in this current economic crisis, as I have a passion for fashion and often work with women I decided to volunteer as a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK as they are a wonderful support system to so many women suffering from Cancer in the UK.

Obviously we want as many people as possible to purchase tickets and come and support the event, tell us a bit about the day and what we can expect?

The Frock Exchange Party is the ultimate fashionista's day out to clothes shop for free! You can look forward to lots of makeup and fashion tips, makeover opportunities, celebrity appearances, live music, fashion show case, opportunity to purchase one off exclusive items, clothes auction, prize giveaways and much more....

The Frock Exchange’….what a fab idea, who or what gave you the inspiration?

The inspiration came from Twiggy’s frock exchange on BBC 1, I first saw it there and said to myself I have to create something similar and here we are!

And finally as if raising money for a worthy charity isn’t a good enough reason in itself…give us 5 more good reasons to get ourselves down to the Vibe on Sunday 12th April?

1. Revamp your wardrobe

2. Get rid of your guilty pleasures and pick up a golden treasure!

3. Receive expert style advice

4. Network with fashion loving females

5. Enjoy a fabulous ladies day out..
