Band / Artist of the week

Name: Alex Young

Genre: R&B/ Pop

Myspace URL: http://www.myspace.com/alexyoung1

“Alex is no stranger in the business - She is a mega-star in the making”

…These words are repetitively said about our New York Talent – Alex Young

New York’s Talent began at the tender age of five

when she featured on the front cover of the well known “New York Times Sunday Fashion Magazine”

and has worked in the industry ever since.

Whether it has been working as a cast member for Sesame Street”,

being on Clear Channel’s Z100 radio show two years in a row, in commemoration of the events of 9/11 with her composed song “Heart of America”, which was a sign of her personal tribute,

or just simply rocking to the sounds of Elmo in her Elmosize video

……

it is no wonder she has become so popular!

Alex has always seen music as something special,
she explains that:

“Music is universally understood and recognized to evoke specific emotions which are virtually the same whether a person lives in Ghana, Nottingham or anywhere on the planet.”

She states that throughout her music career she has been influenced by many artists, such as Mariah Carey,Whitney & Celine.

She mentions that: “Every time I am singing or performing, I enjoy thinking that a little bit of each of them is inspiring my sound”

Our New York girl enjoys every single moment on stage. She believes that: “there’s just something about performing live that can’t be recreated or captured that’s so fascinating -- and indescribable.”.

Alex is keen to evolve her music and take on new forms.

She is truly “a fan of such styles as dance and indie rock in addition to rap”,

One of the young talent’s dreams would be to work alongside Prince, whom she describes as:

“having no musical boundries” which she personally admires. So lets hope the mega star will fulfil her dream someday.

However,

….one thing is for sure…

..Alex Young is a star and will continue developing into an even bigger star..

…Check out her tunes…

And now Ladies and Gentlemen give it up for

“ALEX YOUNG”

Band / Artist of the week

Name: Your Vegas

Genre: Pop / Rock / Indie

MySpace: myspace.com/yourvegas

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Vegas has an inspiring history…. Check it out…

..It all began in a small suburb of Leeds called Otley, where the band naturally formed. According to Girelli : ”You find three other people near the same age into music, you’re probably going to meet up and form a band.”

..And this is how it all began…They started out as a “grungy, Nirvana-influenced group” but over time the music opened up far more….

..And before they knew it the band was releasing a few indie singles and started touring the UK….

Up and down the motorway we woud go – doing what we call the toilet tours” says Coyle.

..their travels ranged from hitting the islands off of Scotland right down to visiting Plymouth..

But Your Vegas wanted more than this… and took the next step after a proposed major label deal fell through…

…guess where they travelled to?? Where do all Stars want to be??

EXACTLY!..

Good old NEW YORK!!

…Their crowds grew bigger, major labels started coming around…and this was their real start to their career.

And all band members had one GOAL:

……

…“Write great, uplifting tunes and play for as many people as we can, and hopefully make people happy. We finally found the opportunity to do that by moving to the States.” Says Steel.

New York had been their opportunity to show the world their talent… and they succeeded… they recorded their album with David Bendeth last April naming the album: “A town and two cities”,

which reflects the bands past and present.

Coyle describes it as: “We grew up in a small town, and then spent a lot of time in Leeds – which is an amazing city for musicians. Then we came here to the States, and that was our last inspiration before recording the album. So I guess it’s about our journey, in a town and two cities".

How inspiring is their history?

…..CHECK OUT THEIR TUNES…

Give it up for this week’s band:

Band/Artist of the week

“Rock and Pop lovers it is time for you to rock out to Fiction Plane

Fiction Plane can be described in one word: AWESOME! Whether its their firey lyrics or hard-hitting beats......this band will go all the long way. The songs are inspiring, powerful, entertaining and credible.

It may come as a surprise to many that Fiction Plane's Joe Sumner is determined not to cling onto the success of his famous dad.

Allegedly, the Fiction Plane press camp are banned from even mentioning a certain superstar dad - Sting - to the media.

Although Sumner’s vocals are evocative of daddy, Fiction Plane are getting on nicely doing things the proper way; becoming stars in their own right.

With cited rockier influences Nirvana and Pavement, don’t expect to be soothed by calm acoustic.

The guys are already, gathering a firm fanbase and this year they will be attending the ‘Rock en Nord’ festival in Nieppe, where they will be showcasing their skills.

Check out the links and see what makes them my band/artist of the week...
ladies and gentlemen....Give it up for FICTION PLANE!!
